Joseph Malon from the Catholic Church of St. Joseph in Downingtown regularly stealing donations from parishioners to pay for their «habits» for almost 6 years.

It is alleged that Maklon transfer of $98,405 of the Church’s money in a secret Bank account, and then used it to pay for luxury meals, travel expenses, credit card debt and luxury beach house in new Jersey, as well as to pay bills for Grindr XTRA.

He took about $46 000 in cash with undisclosed accounts in ocean city, new Jersey, where he owns a beach house.

He admitted that he used part of the funds to pay for «personal meetings» with men, including $1200 on an inmate in a correctional facility in new York, according to the materials of the court.

Macloon also allegedly made 17 separate payments totaling $1720 men he met on Grindr through the online application to transfer money.

Macloon engaged in fraud 6 years and in that time he has doubled the money that he collected as a contribution for every held a mass, wedding and funeral, according to prosecutors.

He also is accused of using $3000 to pay off credit card debt.

Archdiocese of Philadelphia launched an investigation into suspicious activities of Malone in early 2018.
Maklon was later placed on administrative leave. Now he’s facing 18 charges, including several cases of theft. Maklon bail at $50,000.

Kenneth Gavin Director of communications Archdiocese of Philadelphia, said:

«These allegations are serious and disturbing. The Archdiocese and parish will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as the criminal case enters its next phase».

«Pending the outcome of the Monsignor Malon remains on administrative leave. Information about his arrest will be transferred to the parish community of St. Joseph.»

In 2011 Macloon replaced father William Lynn who was accused and arrested for concealing information about the abuse of the clergy.
