A mother from California put on the head of a 3-year-old son a plastic bag and tied his hands while their house was burning along with them.
The fire was reported at 18:14 on Sunday, December 1, in a two-story building with 46 Bahia Circle. The apartment is located at Villa Del Sol in the Western part of Santa Paula (CA).
The suspect, 47-year-old Mărişel Magana Ruiz, who called for help, was found tied to a bed in the house, but investigators believe she set the fire. After firefighters rescue mother and son were treated in hospital due to inhaling large amounts of smoke.
The woman was later arrested on suspicion in cruel treatment with children, according to new data published on Monday, December 2.
«Detectives decided that she threatened the life of his 3-year-old son, wearing on his head a plastic bag and tied his hands before moving it to the bedroom,» — said the police Santa Paula.
The third man, the man about 70 years old, is a relative. He arrived on the scene around the same time as police and fire. He was also treated in hospital but was released.

Ruiz was placed in Ventura County jail but later released on bail of $50 thousand
