«Grandpa Express»: a Man gave 10 grandchildren a small bus so he could take them to school

A resident of Oregon found a unique way to spend more time with his ten grandchildren: he bought a small school bus to haul them to school.

Last Friday, December 20, Doug Hayes presented a yellow bus with his grandchildren in time for Christmas. On it there are inscriptions: «Grandpa Express», pasted on the sides.

«When they saw him, they were just delighted,» said Hayes CNN, staging a surprise at home in Gladstone (Oregon), South of Portland.

Hays five grandchildren attend a small private school that is not large enough to have her own school buses. Instead, parents deliver their children every day.

«Children always said, «Gee, we love our school, but we wish we had a school bus»,» — says the man.

Five of his grandchildren attend Paideia Classical Christian School, and the rest have not yet reached school age, but next year two of them will be old enough to sit on Grandpa Express.

Hayes said that all of the grandchildren live about a 20 minute drive, and their school is within two or three miles from his house.

It will make the morning tours every day. According to Hayes, after a trip to the school he will return for his car and go to work.

This idea arose after his wife, Amy, asked him if he had any important goals that he would like to achieve.

A few weeks later he told her: «It would be nice to take the grandchildren to school in the morning.»

Amy pushed him to the realization before they understand how to make the dream a reality.

The pair took about a month to find a bus that would they came.

The car was pre-decorated for kids magnet letters and numbers on the ceiling. Then Hayes added seat belts to all seats.

Grandpa plans to test the bus on the first day after the Christmas holidays.
