The head of the Port authority of new York and new Jersey (Port Authority) who was visiting the local airports have contracted coronavirus, said Monday, March 9, Governor Andrew Cuomo.
At the moment, the number of infections in new York state increased by 37 people — now these patients 142.
According to Cuomo, he would «be in contact» with an infected Executive Director of the PA Rick Cotton, but it is not checked, because it is «unlikely positive», which means that he is unlikely to be a virus.
The Governor did not say how cotton may have contracted a potentially fatal disease, but noted that he «was at the airports when many people were returning with the virus,» including JFK Airport in Queens.
Cuomo said that while cotton «will work from home.» Members of his team who were with him in the vicinity, also check and sent to quarantine, if necessary.
Currently in the state of ill 142 people, including 6 in new York and 16 in Westchester County, which currently is the most affected district in the state.
«These numbers will continue to move in the same direction — up,» warned Cuomo.
