The cyclist caught the wedding of strangers on the Brooklyn Bridge — and gave them unique photos

Love during a pandemic is not easy, not to mention how difficult it is to get married in the midst of a quarantine. Fortunately, no barriers could stop the New York couple from getting married this weekend, and a fluke also provided them with unique souvenir photos.

On Sunday, Nevona Friedman was cycling on the Brooklyn Bridge when she witnessed a modest wedding ceremony: only the bride, groom, priest and the rays of the setting sun. The girl captured the romantic moment on camera, but did not immediately inform the newlyweds about it — so as not to disturb the solemn atmosphere.

“They were so absorbed in each other. — recalls Friedman — I didn’t want to get in with the words: «Hey, I took a picture of you here.»

Instead, Nevona posted one of the pictures on social networks, hoping that the lovers would make themselves felt. And so it happened.

Karolina Kovalenko and Stefan Ponova got married exactly one year after they met during a trip to South America. Both of them are adventure seekers who love travel, exoticism and extreme sports.

“When we met, we immediately understood that we had been looking for each other all our lives,” Kovalenko recalls.

The couple did not even suspect that Friedman watched the wedding — and are infinitely grateful to fate for this. The photos of Nevona were the only ones taken during the ceremony.

The newlyweds have no plans for their honeymoon yet, but they plan to get married again when they can. This time, in the presence of friends and family.

“We wish everyone to meet a person who would make him feel the same as we feel with each other,” says Carolina.
