Sometimes a 911 call for no good reason can end up with a fine or jail time for a Florida resident — but one woman from Martin County was much more fortunate.

Cheryl Nanartonis found herself in an extremely uncomfortable position when her refrigerator broke down and there was no money to buy a new one. Fearing that this would spoil the food, Nanartonis dialed 911 and asked for help.

“Although 911 is only supposed to be called in an emergency, we still sent officers to her home in Jensen Beach. — said representatives of the sheriff's office on their Facebook page — They explained that 911 is recruited only in emergency situations.

«But that is not all. Our officers knew how upset Cheryl was and they just couldn't stand aside. »

The police went to the local Goodwilld store and asked Cheryl to donate a used refrigerator, which they themselves brought to the new owner's house.

All's well that ends well — although we still don't recommend asking 911 for help if your washing machine suddenly fails.
