Navalny published a photo from a hospital bed and promised to return to Russia

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who recently emerged from a coma after a poisoning attempt, discussed the assassination attempt with a German prosecutor and said he plans to return to Russia as soon as he recovers, a senior German security official told the New York Times.

The security officer, who was briefed on the state of the politician, stressed that Navalny is able to think clearly and is fully aware of what is happening.

«He is aware of his condition, what happened to him, and where he is,» — said the source on condition of anonymity.

Today, Navalny is still under the protection of the German police at the Charite hospital. In a conversation with the prosecutor, he refused Russia's request for a joint investigation with the German authorities on the assassination attempt and confirmed that he planned to return to Russia.

“He is not going to remain in exile in Germany. — said the official. «He wants to return home to Russia and continue his work.»

On September 15, the oppositionist also posted on social networks his first photo in a month, taken from a hospital bed.

“I still can hardly do anything, but yesterday I was able to breathe on my own all day. — wrote Navalny — I didn't use any outside help, even the simplest valve in my throat. I liked it very much.
