This short-range RF wireless technology is used in contactless payment phones. Sensors on the skin measure oxygen levels, body temperature, muscle tone, respiration, physical activity and the electrical activity of the heart.

According to these data, the stimulation mode is calculated. Information from the sensors can be sent to the attending physician or sent to the application. After a month, the wireless pacemaker dissolves inside the body. Its components are biocompatible and are not rejected by the body. Wearable sensors peel off easily. This technology can be used for patients who need temporary help to regulate their heartbeat.

There are no wires in the pacemaker. You can install it directly on the surface of the heart, and as soon as the need for it disappears, it will dissolve in the body. The pacemaker is shaped like a miniature tennis racket, made of magnesium, tungsten, silicon, and a polymer. All these materials are compatible with the human body and are absorbed through chemical processes.

An external device transmits radio frequency energy to a receiver inside the pacemaker, converting it into an electrical current that regulates the heart. In the event of a low charge or malfunction, the device vibrates to alert the user. All data is transmitted to a mobile device, from which doctors monitor patients remotely. Thanks to this, treatment can be carried out at home, and not in a hospital.

The price of a wireless self-dissolving pacemaker will be about $100. In the future, the scientists plan to develop a system for tuning the substance that surrounds electronic materials in order to adapt the time period of the device to the needs of patients. Previously, surgery was required to remove or replace the stimulant. It could lead to complications such as infection, bleeding, damage or tissue rupture.

There are no such risks with a soluble pacemaker. No more pulling out the wire, which can be dangerous. It is expected that the development of scientists will make life easier for newborns with heart disease and adults who need a temporary pacemaker or whose illnesses do not allow them to install a conventional pacemaker.
