Seventy-year-old student received his doctorate from Los Angeles University

Study, study and study again is the motto of the 70-year-old Berenice Onapr Vasquez, whose advanced age did not stop to obtain his doctorate at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Old graduate became the oldest person who graduated from Los Angeles high school.

A native of Peru, moved to USA at the age of 20 years old — and then she didn’t know English, but was determined to get higher education. Vasquez was a man of vision — first, she earned a bachelor’s degree, and some time later received two master’s degrees. However, the woman was not going to stop there. She wanted to teach at the University and was sure that a degree would allow her easily to earn credibility in front of students.

And here, Vasquez succeeded: now she is a doctor of pedagogical Sciences. Woman hopes to be able to become an example for Latin American youth, demonstrating that one can never stop learning, and higher education has many advantages.

She has managed to inspire his two sons — one of them diligently nose to the grindstone at Harvard, and the second in California state University Northridge.

Unquenchable thirst for knowledge have managed to preserve to old age not only Vasquez. In early may, the diploma of higher education received an old graduate — 88 year old Horace Sheffield from Georgia.
