A couple police officers for the first time in the history of the NYPD at the same time were increasing and the rank of captain.

«We did some research and as far as we can tell, this is the first case in the NYPD, when the husband and wife will receive the title of captain in one day,» said NYPD Commissioner James O’neill at the ceremony of promotion in the police headquarters.

Lieutenants Louis Barcia and Alexander, Sarabi-Barcia was found in 2002, when he entered the service of the police, and fell in love.

They have subsequently been promoted to Sergeant and then Lieutenant within a few months, but together — never. On Friday, they finally got the rank of captain at the same time.

«We know that the police service and marriage require a high level of commitment,» said O’neil on the happy couple during the presentation of the new shoulder straps. «And there’s nothing like a little healthy competition at home,» he added.

As reported by the Daily News, in addition to four Barcia, the ceremony of the promotion received an additional 71 police and 35 civilian employees of the NYPD.
