Night in Baltimore demolished the monuments of the Confederacy

That night in Baltimore dismantled the monument to four of the confederates, reports ABC News.

Among the fallen — monuments to Confederate generals, Robert E. Lee and Thomas Jackson, monument to Confederate women, a monument to soldiers and sailors of the Confederacy, and the monument to Roger B. Tani, the author of the Supreme court decision of 1856, which denied the citizenship of African Americans.

Local channel WMAR reports that the dismantling of monuments was approved by the city administration.
The mayor of Baltimore Katherine Pugh said Monday that the monuments will be removed and transferred to the cemetery, and after a few hours the city Council voted unanimously for the destruction of monuments, writes the Associated Press. Pew reported that the dismantling process was launched on Tuesday at 11:30 and was finished by 5:30 Wednesday morning. The mayor believes that because of «the atmosphere that prevails in the country» it is necessary to do everything quickly and quietly.

The dismantling of monuments to the Confederacy in Baltimore happened a few days after protests in Charlottesville, during which killed one woman. In addition to Baltimore to fight the symbols of the Confederacy are also going to join California, Kentucky and new York.
