Repair work on the station and Penn Station are on schedule and nearing completion. September 5 this year, the «summer of hell» for passengers will be over — reported Assotiated Press.
«We thank customers for their patience all the time, until we’ve upgraded and repaired infrastructure at Penn Station,» — said Vice-President of Amtrak Vic Murman.
«We also appreciate the cooperation and support of our partners, NJ Transit and Long Island Rail Road. Our engineers work successfully, and we look forward to the normal functioning of the station on 5 September,» — said Murman.
Recall the «summer of hell» lasted seven weeks. During this time, the station changed the road, the road traffic lights and other mechanisms.
All the routeswhich these works have been modified, will again begin to function. Also, the station will still arrive trains Empire Service.
Additional work will continue at Penn Station approximately until June 2018, but they are not on such a large scale. In addition, most of the work will be conducted in the weekendsso a delay is not so much impact on the passengers.
