Cyber attack on Chipotle: stolen data from credit cards of customers

A cyber attack on the restaurant chain Chipotle has allowed hackers to steal data from credit card customers.

On its official website the company has posted a list of restaurants that were attacked from March 24 to April 18. The list is quite impressive in it – the restaurants of most major cities in the United States.

It is established that a malicious program had infected the cash registers and reads information from magnetic stripes of credit cards customers, including the cardholder’s name, its number, date of expiry and internal confirmation code.

«During the investigation we removed the malware and continue to work with cyber security experts to enhance our security measures. In addition, we cooperate with the police and work with banks in order to banks that issued payment cards were enhanced monitoring,» — said in a statement.

Representatives of the «Chipotle» urge their clients to carefully review statements and credit cards. In case you detect something suspicious — immediately contact the Federal trade Commission or local police Department.
