De Blasio decided to save Columbus with signs

Faced with criticism of the plan, offering to remove from new York some monuments, including the statue of Christopher Columbus in Columbus Circle, mayor bill de Blasio decided to resort to Plan B, which he said on Monday.

De Blasio first proposed to remove some of the statues from the city streets after the riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, committed white nationalists who opposed the demolition of the statue of Confederate General, Robert E. Lee.

Since the mayor announced the creation of the Commission, which will consider the matter, dozens of groups opposed the demolition of monuments.

A huge number of complaints has led to criticism of the actions of the mayor, in particular, people unhappy with the fact that officials have not sounded, according to what criteria will be selected monuments on the «aptitude». But de Blasio said that will solve all the members of the Commission who will determine the parameters and establish a certain standard, which will help the sites to remain in their seats.
