Traveling in USA: the Carson mansion, Eureka, California

The estate of Carson – incredibly photogenic building, which for more than a century adorns the city of Eureka in California. Designed the miracle with talented architects from San Francisco, Samuel and Joseph Newsome, and the creators of the manor was able to give it a kind of American style.

Unique structure, made mostly of mahogany from Central America, and onyx from East India, Mexico and the Philippines still attracts the lovers of unusual architecture from around the country. Today this place is considered one of the most popular and well-known Victorian houses in the United States.

The mansion was built for William Carson (1825-1912), one of the first major Industrialists in Northern California who earned a fortune selling wood. For the construction of elaborately decorated mansion had to hire more than 100 employees and spend two years time.

After failing to capitalize on the California gold rush in the mid-nineteenth century, Carson turned his entrepreneurial sights on the forests of Northern California. From there he sent ships Laden with mahogany in San Francisco. After decades of work Carson along with John Dalbera created the company Dolbeer and Carson Lumber Company. Dalbir later became famous for having invented the auxiliary steam engine which revolutionized the industry. For 1880 years the company Carson were annually produced 15 000 000 feet of lumber.

The Carson family sold the mansion in 1950, a private club Ingomar, who still owns the building and allows visitors to explore the interior of the residence. But if everyone was allowed inside, they would be impressed by the magnificent stained glass Windows, moldings and carvings, and wood carving expensive exotic varieties.

Like the Carson family, the current owners carefully monitor alone, so it has reached our days almost the same as it was immediately after construction. Estate could be included in the national register of historic places, but carefully guards his privacy, refusing to open their doors to all who wish to see the most photogenic mansion America from the inside.
