Estate of Bartow-Pell is a historic house Museum, located in the Northern part of the Pelham Park Bay in the Bronx. The mansion is the last surviving mansion built in the mid-nineteenth century in the heart of Pelham Bay.
The long and noble story of the house and Bartow-Pell begins in 1654when Thomas Pell, an Englishman and a doctor from Connecticut, bought land from the Indians Siwanoy. King Charles II granted permission to create estates in Pelham in 1666. Thomas Pell received the land as property, where he began construction of the first house near the marshy shores of long island. His heir and nephew, sir John Pell, completed the construction of the mansion after 1670. The house served four generations of the family of Pillow before it was burned during the American revolution.

In 1813 the area, at that time already an area of 220 acres was sold to Herman Leroy and Hannah. Later, the estate again moved the family, first owners since it was bought in 1836 year, Robert Bartow, a businessman and a descendant of Pella. To the South-West of the original house Bartow built a new stone mansion with interiors in the style of Greek revival, where he moved with his wife and children in 1842. The house remained in the ownership of the Bartow family until 1888, when the estate was purchased by the authorities of new York.

Over 25 years building and the surrounding gardens were in decline. From more than a dozen buildings of this era with views of Long Island Sound, the estate of the Bartow-Pell is the only building extant.

In 1914, the campaign for the rescue of the mansion Bartow-Pell. Funds were collected to repair the house and restore the gardens. It was one of the earliest restorations in the country. All the work was in charge of the architectural firm Delano and Aldrich.

As mansion Museum Bartow-Pell officially opened in 1946. Later, in the 1970-ies, the estate was listed on the national register of historic places. The interior of the mansion and its grounds are recognized as official landmarks of new York.
