The low-cost carrier Wow Air has ceased operations: passengers are stuck on both sides of the Atlantic

Icelandic budget carrier Wow Air has ceased operations and canceled all flights, causing its passengers were on both sides of the Atlantic.

The airline announced the closure in a statement posted on their website today, March 28. The airline advised passengers to book new flights on other airlines and added that some may be entitled to compensation.

The passenger Saurab Aggarwal, who yesterday had to fly from Toronto to Reykjavik flight for Wow Air described chaos at the airport in Toronto. According to Aggarwal, customers were given conflicting information about the flight status until canceled. She added that no refunds were not. Only the next morning she received an email from Wow Air, informing passengers that the airline ceased operations, and all flights cancelled.

Other injured passengers are also criticized Wow Air on social networks for the lack of feedback.
«Just found out about this news — written by Jonathan Ku, who was stuck at the airport in Newark (new Jersey) after his flight was cancelled. They didn’t even notify any of us directly, we learned everything from Twitter!»

@wowairsupport flight WW104 from #EWR was cancelled after a 4 hour delay and they gave us a $12 voucher 👎🏼 Pandemonium at the gate. I need a refund + new earliest flight ASAP. @EWRairport pic.twitter.com/4No3qzidAg

Other airlines, including EasyJet and Norwegian Air, offered reduced fares for passengers due to the difficult circumstances.

As noted in the Wow Air passengers with a travel insurance policy have the right to demand compensation.

Founded in 2011, the company Wow Air was known for cheaper transatlantic fares on routes via Iceland.

This is not the first airline which ceased its activities recently. In October 2018 has stopped working Danish Primera Air, and in February 2019, the German airline Germania has declared bankruptcy, has also completed the British Flybmi flights.
