«It was unbelievable»: a Family of four were not even aware that booked on pride flight to new York

In September 2018 the family of Powells booked a ticket on the flight London—new York for their holidays next year. A month later they received a call from Virgin Atlantic and was told that the flight was chosen for the first ever «pride-of-flight» (Pride Flight).

«The company offered to change the flight — says Kerry Powell but then had to go another day. It didn’t fit, so we just decided not to change the plans.»

According to Kerry, her husband Sean and sons Calum (4) and Cody (1) not for a moment regretted my decision. The family enjoyed the company of dozens of effectively-dressed drag Queen, from time to time arrange impromptu show, a curated music from DJ Jodi Harsh and rainbow éclairs, prepared specially for the occasion.

On one of the videos taken on Board, the family literally is in the center of events: boys enthusiastically watching the passengers dancing to «Born This Way» and jump to the beat of the music, and Cody high-fives a passing passenger.

The Powells were lucky enough to become one of the few who place in the flight went without a fight. After the event was announced, tickets for VS69 — named after Stonewalls riots of 1969 — sold out in just 24 hours. Among the many celebrities present on Board was actor Titus Burgess and the famous drag Queen Courtney POS, and the crew consisted entirely of members of the LGBTIQ community.
