36-year-old school teacher made a brilliant (in the truest sense of the word) discovery when he found a diamond larger than 2 carats in Arkansas state Park.

Josh Lanik from Nebraska was the family vacation when they visited the State Park «diamond Crater» (Crater of Diamonds State Park) and left with a precious stone cognac color worth thousands of dollars.

«I was walking through the Park area that looked like there soil washed stream of water when I noticed this. I saw the lights, took a stone, rolled it in my hand and noticed that there are no sharp edges,» — said Lanik.

The man showed the stone to his wife, and then hid in a package with other found gems and minerals. Then they went to the center diamond in the Park.

According to another employee of the Park, Waimana Coke, the recent rains probably helped Josh Lanik find a gem.

«In the days after the rain the Park staff seen by numerous diamonds that are washed to the surface, but such a major is not found,» said Cox.

Crater of Diamonds State Park is a state Park of Arkansas with an area of 911 acres in the County of pike. In the Park there is a field with an area of 37.5 acres, the world’s only diamond-bearing location accessible to the public.
