A teenager from Californiawho survived, after spending nearly 30 hours alone in the snowy mountains of Utah, said that did not sleep through the phone alarm, built a snow cave for shelter, and was holding a beaded bracelet ex-girlfriend, not to lose hope.
17-year-old Nicholas Stacy-Alcantara of Fresno (California) last week went to Utah to see my ex-girlfriend, and decided to go on a day hike. At this time was relatively mild weather.

«I like to hike, as it clears my head,» said the guy. He went up in the canyon East of salt lake city, taking with him six peanut butter sandwiches and 40 ounces of water. He planned to spend in the mountains all day and be home for dinner.
But towards evening the snow began to fall and the temperature plummeted. Mobile phone is not catching network in the area, and the guy started to freeze.
According to him, he found a spot under a tree and built a small snow cave to shelter from the wind. He turned on the timer on my phone for the alarm to be included every 30 minutes and this allowed him to stay awake.
His ex-girlfriend and her mother called the police when Nicholas didn’t come to dinner, but after dark, help did not arrive immediately.
Nicholas said that he began to lose hope, when suddenly I stumbled on something in his backpack: it was a beaded braceletthat his ex-girlfriend gave him in the beginning of their relationship. Nicholas said: it reminded him of everyone who cared about him.
When the sun rose, he left the cave in wet clothes and shoes went. That night piled up waist-deep snow. In the end, the guy was lucky to stumble upon other travelers who had a satellite phone, and they called for help.
The helicopter guy was taken to the hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with frostbite of the feet, but, fortunately, the case came to amputation.

According to Nicholas, he is now looking forward to the moment of discharge from the hospital. After graduation, he plans to study aerospace equipment in the College.
