US airlines change tickets free of charge to clients who was about to fly to China

American airlines give customers more time to change flight to Chinawithout charging a fee for it, as the deadly coronavirus continues to spread.

American Airlines (AAL) and Delta Air Lines (DAL) said on Monday, January 27, before the end of February, passengers who have purchased tickets to China, will be able to exchange them for free.

This means that people who were planning to travel by airline to Beijing or Shanghai — two cities that each company caters for mainland China can proceed to another flight free of charge.

United Airlines also canceled the fee for change of tickets on flights to Beijing, Shanghai or Chengdu before the end of February. Last week the company offered to cancel before 7 Feb.

United offers refunds to passengers intending to fly to Wuhan, if they bought a ticket to the 21st of January and was supposed to go until March 29 inclusive.

The US centers for control and prevention of diseases (CDC) on Monday raised precautions for travel in China to the highest level. This means that travelers are advised to avoid travel to the country unless absolutely necessary. Coronavirus continues to spread. More than 100 people died, more than 4,500 cases had been confirmed in mainland China. In the United States have registered 5 cases.

The CDC announced increased screening of passengers from Wuhan in five airports: the international airport John F. Kennedy new York international airport San Francisco international airport Los Angeles international airport O’hare in Chicago and the international airport Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta.

As of Monday, the Agency checked around 2400 passengers.
