The Biden administration is developing a plan for foreigners entering the United States to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, a White House official said Wednesday.
The plan is now in development and will be ready when the US reopens its borders, an NBC News official said. Current travel restrictions remain in place due to concerns about the delta variant of the coronavirus.
Most non-citizens who have been in the UK, European Union countries, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran or Brazil within the last 14 days. It is unclear when the US plans to lift these restrictions.
The delta option is actively spreading both in the US and around the world, according to the official, and officials are now working to develop a plan for a consistent and safe international travel policy.
He noted that the requirement to vaccinate foreigners will be implemented in stages and include some exceptions.
