The Biden administration is developing a plan to under which foreigners entering the US will be required to receive full COVID-19 vaccinations, a White House official said Wednesday.
This plan is now in the development phase and will be ready when the US reopens its borders. an NBC News official said. The current travel restrictions remain in place due to concerns about the delta variant of the coronavirus.
The United States is now barred from most non-citizens who have been to the UK, the European Union, Ireland, China, India, the South Africa, Iran or Brazil within the last 14 days. It is not clear when the US plans to lift these restrictions.
The delta option is actively rolling out both in the US and around the world — and officials are now working to develop a plan for a consistent and safe international travel policy, the official said.
He noted that the requirement to vaccinate foreigners will be phased in and include some exceptions.
