Death Valley National Park
From February to July, the Mojave Desert known as the Death Valley is the main place for wild flowers to bloom. The last time you could admire the landscape was in 2016 and 2005. The first flowers bloom at low altitudes in mid-February and are pleasing to the eye until mid-April. At higher altitudes, they appear in June and July. The most popular plant in Death Valley is the desert gold. Thanks to her, the entire field is painted yellow. Purple phacelia and white gravel ghosts also bloom here. At the beginning of the season, the desert did not have enough rains, so super blooms are not expected in it. However, visitors will be able to enjoy the view of the wildflowers.
Anza-Borrego State Park
From mid-February to mid-May, the largest state park in California, located 135 km northeast of San Diego, blooms desert marigold, sunflower, lily, sand verbena, apricot mallow, orcatta, tree aster and cacti. Super blooms are not expected this year either, but annual wildflowers can be seen along the canyon trails.
Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve
The 700-hectare reserve is located 120 km north of Los Angeles. Hills covered with poppies seem fake and you can admire them from mid-March to early May. Poppies are the main decoration of this territory, but not the only one. In Antelope Valley, you can also see the desert pincushion, blue lupine, and California aster in bloom.
Channel Islands National Park
40 km off the coastline of Santa Barbara are 5 islands with a wide variety of wild flowers. From January to March, yellow coreopsis blooms on the islands of San Miguel, Anacapa and Santa Barbara. San Miguel also boasts the flowering of poppies and lupins, and Anacapa of bright morning glory and lilies. Santa Rosa Island has a rare Indian raceme, buttery yellow with soft leaves, while Santa Barbara has lavender chicory and pale yellow cream flowers.
Figueroa Mountain Recreation Area
From mid-February to mid-May, wild hyacinths, buttercups, hydrangeas, violas, thrushes, lotuses, chocolate lilies, purple balsams, poppies and cornflowers bloom on the slopes of the peak 80 km northwest of Santa Barbara. The same can be said for neighboring Grass Mountain.
Pinnacles National Park
From mid-March until the end of May, numerous flowers bloom in this relatively small park 120 km south of San José. Depending on rainfall and temperature, lotuses, violets and violas are the first to appear, followed by California poppies, nemophiles, sponges, shrub lupins and poppies, and then comes the turn of roses, orchids and heat-loving clarkies.
Mount Diablo State Park
From mid-March to the end of May, skullcap, sponge, lilies, bush lupins, sanicula, bird's eye, poppies and rye begin to bloom in a state park 60 km east of San Francisco. To admire all this splendor, you can choose one of the many hiking trails within Mount Diablo State Park.
North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve
On a wide open mountain of 1200 hectares near Oroville, wild flowers bloom from late March to mid-May, including lupine, lilac, foothill trithelia, poppies, purple clover and blue hyacinths.
Lake Tahoe , their slopes are covered with white phlox, yellow buttercups, lilies, blue lupins, lacy calyptrids and bright red sarcodes.
Eastern Sierra
From late May to June and July, northern California spring blooms are a delight to the eye in Mono County. Orange tiger lilies, golden mustard, blue lupins, scarlet hylia, pink desert peach and purple wild iris bloom in Bridgeport Valley, Parker Bench, McGee Creek and Tioga Pass in Yosemite.

On the hills, wild flowers bloom even in August — September. At the beginning of the season, in the national park, you can admire lilies, timid flowers and lupins.
