New York aquarium — the oldest aquarium in new York, located in Brooklyn. Today it is inhabited by about 2,000 animals of more than 350 different types.
In autumn 2012 the new York aquarium was a victim of hurricane sandy and was closed for reconstruction. The amount of damage amounted to more than $ 6 million. Fortunately, most of its inhabitants survived. Reconstruction is still ongoing, but half of the exposures, and aquatheater and cinema, are open to visitors. It is expected that the repair will be completed only in 2018.
In the section «Marine rock» is home to penguins, otters, seals, walruses and California sea lions. «Conservation hall» will give visitors an unrivalled variety of marine flora and fauna. Among the rare representatives — Eastern standard has beceril and Moray. Sand sharks and rays were temporarily transferred from the aquarium tunnel in the new block to the end of reconstruction, but to see them again.
One of the most popular attractions of the new York aquarium is aquatheater under the open sky, where there are shows featuring trained sea lions. These amazing animals perform wondrous tricks: jump through a ring, dance, clap, roar, like African lions, and even kissing. Children may want to visit this view again.
