Irma eased, but the danger remains, Florida evacuation

This morning, September 7, hurricane Irma weakened to 4th category. This was reported in the National hurricane center, adding that the storm is still «extremely dangerous».

Presumably, the coast of southern Florida the hurricane will reach around 4 a.m. Sunday. The strongest winds are predicted around Marathon and Key Largo, but Miami and densely populated areas of Southeast Florida are also in the path of the hurricane.

Now Irma – in 495 miles from Miami and is moving at a speed of approximately 16 mph.

According to ABC News, a mandatory evacuation subject to nearly 1.2 million Florida residents, including:

  • Florida Keys
  • coastal areas County Miami-Dade
  • barrier Islands in Lee County,
  • coastal areas of Broward County,
  • coastal areas of Palm Beach County,
  • barrier Islands in Martin County,
  • barrier Islands in Indian River County
  • coastal areas of Brevard County,
  • coastal areas of St. John’s County,
  • towns around the South of Lake Okeechobee

It is here that is expected to very large floods, life-threatening. Precipitation in the Southeast Florida can reach 15-20 inches in the East part of the state is from 8 to 12 inches.

This morning a hurricane struck the Islands of Turks and Caico‘s, local authorities called the damage «catastrophic.» Next storm is moving to the Bahamas.

Fortunately, according to the forecasts of meteorologists, from Sunday evening Irma will begin to subside, moving inland. However, heavy rains Tuesday will cover North Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.
