Hurricane season, as if it was not prepared of power, always accompanied by the victims. For example, the year 2017 has become one of the most deadly for U.S. – 103 people died because of four powerful hurricanes that have stormed the coastal zone of the country.

But statistics show that these figures are not high when viewed from the perspective of the global scale.

Annually non-profit organization Germanwatch publishes its Global Climate Risk Index, which indicates the ranking of the most affected by natural disasters countries in the last 20 years.

First place «deadly» rating is the state of Myanmar, which is located in South-East Asia. Here from 1996 to 2016 fixed 14,55 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants (annual average).

Myanmar became the leader of the list because of the terrible and devastating Cyclone Nargis. This hurricane was so strong that it wiped off the face of the Earth, many cities and villages of the country and claimed the lives of about 140 thousand people.

On the second and third place are Honduras and Micronesia, which are incomparable with Myanmar to 4.28 and 3.35 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants respectively.

Surprisingly, the top 12 of the most deadly countries to weather disasters completing France, Italy and Spain. Experts attribute this to sudden jumps in temperature. For example, in 2003, due to the extreme heat killed more than 70 thousand Europeans, especially in France.
