Florida snowfall, and throughout the South froze the fountains (photos)

The capital of Sunny Florida saw snow for the first time in nearly three decades. Snow fell in Tallahassee yesterday, Wednesday, January 3.

«A rare sight: snow in Tallahassee for the first time in 28 years,» said Weather Channel meteorologist Mike Seidel.

The city was closed about 50 miles of interstate 10 due to icy conditions, and schools in five districts canceled classes – students were expected to return from winter break.

As reported by the Sun Sentinel, the Florida state University and a&M University were also closed Wednesday, and theme parks with water attractions in Orlando.

However, many Floridians are rejoicing this turn of events. «Snow on my grapefruit tree in Tallahassee this morning!» — enthusiastically wrote one user on Twitter.

This winter felt not only in Florida, but almost all over the southern United States. In Louisiana, South Carolina and Georgia residents have witnessed amazing beauty – a fancy frozen fountains.

In some parts of Georgia fell from 4 to 6 inches of snow in Savannah and Charleston closed airports and schools, reports ABC News.

The patrol urged drivers to avoid travelling on an icy highway.
