Cuomo declared a state of emergency in new York in connection with a snow storm

The so-called «bomb cyclone» or «bombogenesis», known as the first snowstorm of 2018, today in the morning broke in new York.

Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for southern part of the state in the midst of the morning’s snowfall when PATH trains and urban metro is already faced with problems, and about thousands of flights at local airports were cancelled.

Cuomo warned that the worst is yet to come, and stressed that this is particularly true of long island.

«The combination of snow, wind, and cold temperatures is a bad mix – said Cuomo at a press conference in new York. – The conditions are terrible and will only get worse during the day».

The Governor warned residents of the state that it is better to refrain from traveling by car, especially on expressways of long island.

The adverse conditions prompted new York city traffic for a while to stop 6 train in the Bronx, which is about 7:30 in the morning resumed his route.

PATH trains have been delayed between Newark and the world trade center.

The ferry makes regular flights between Manhattan and Staten island, working every 20 minutes during the morning rush hour Thursday due to poor visibility. And the ferry company Seastreak has suspended its services throughout Thursday.

According to the National weather service, a storm moving towards North and will be accompanied by cold air, while on Sunday in New England, Eastern new York and Mid-Atlantic States is expected to record low temperatures.

According to meteorologists, «bombogenesis» occurs when cold air collides with warm air mass, resulting in the storm quickly intensified. This phenomenon can be observed several times a year.
