In Evanston, Illinois (12 miles from Chicago), swept the storm. It lasted only about half an hour, but during this time, the wind uprooted dozens of trees, damaged power lines, tore roofs from houses.

According to CBS meteorologist Kay Kleist, apparently, in Illinois they had a rare natural phenomenon — the so-called «was a microburst» or a vertical storm. The large column of air that with great speed down to the ground destroying whatever is in his way. Micropores usually don’t last long, but their power can destroy even aircraft.

Lisa Sparrow was lucky — her home, where she was with two children, fell a tree, but no one was hurt.
«I looked out the window and saw the street flying trees. I’ve never seen anything like this,» she said.

The wind tore part of the roof at the hospital NorthShore Evanston — fortunately there were no victims.
The city continues liquidation of consequences of hurricane.
