In Arizona spotted a huge sand tornado (video)

A resident of Arizona filmed the «pursuing» its large sandy tornado.

Yesterday, may 29, lance brown of Scottsdale was driving on the highway when near the intersection of highway 202 and 101 just before the car came the big sandy (dusty) tornado. In the United States it is called «dust devil». The tornado literally closely followed the car. The driver, fortunately, was not injured.

As it turned out, that day many residents of Scottsdale have seen this unusual (although not for Arizona) natural phenomenon.

The sand tornado is a vortex motion of the air occur at the earth’s surface in cloudy day (usually hot) weather, when strong heating of the earth’s surface sunlight. The height of the vortex can reach 10-20 meters (and sometimes up to several dozen); the diameter is usually 1 to 5 meters; time existence — from several seconds to a couple minutes.

«Dusty devil» raises from the ground dust, sand, pebbles, small objects and transfers them sometimes at a considerable distance (hundreds of meters).

Unlike the normal tornado, the sandy whirlwinds are not associated with clouds.

Raging «dust devils» on Mars. They were first photographed on the red planet back in the 1970-ies.
