Today, June 1, and it means that has officially begun the season of Atlantic hurricanes. Many residents of coastal zones with horror remember last year, when 6 major hurricanes swept through the United States, depriving the lives of hundreds of people and tens of thousands homeless.
According to the forecasts of meteorologists AccuWeather, from June 1 to November 30, 2018 is formed 12-15 tropical storms. 6-8 of them may develop into hurricanes, including 5 powerful. However, the banks will reach no more than 4 tropical systems.
The main development region of hurricanes Caribbean sea and tropical Atlantic, which formed about 85% of all tropical storms. Before the start of the season to the East of the Mexican Peninsula was formed this year’s first storm named «Alberto».

By the way, the world meteorological organization (World Meteorological Organization – WMO), responsible for naming hurricanes and tropical storms, has already released a list of the names of these devastating natural phenomena until 2023.

The WMO assigns names according to certain rules. They all go in alphabetical order, but none of them starts with the letters Q, U, X, Y and Z, as in English they are not very common.
In 2017 in the U.S. raged for 6 hurricanes, including «Harvey», left a destruction in the $190 billion the Founder and head of AccuWeather Joel N. Myers called this hurricane «the most expensive and the worst natural disaster in American history».
Because of the big destruction, «Harvey» and 3 hurricane — «Irma», «Maria» and «Nate» will be excluded from the list of WMO until 2023.
