The Governor has issued a weather alert, warning residents of new York about the cold

The Governor of new York Andrew Cuomo warned residents of the coming cold and strong winds in most parts of the state that brought the Arctic cold front.

«I urge new Yorkers to refrain from going outside during the next few days if it’s absolutely necessary,» the Governor said.

The Cuomo administration has issued a code blue alert and sent more than 5,000 civil servants to fight the effects of adverse weather conditions.

On Monday, the temperature will not rise above 10-15°F (-10°C to -12°C). Despite the fact that this day will be Sunny, because of the cold wind may seem that outside 0°F (-18°C).

On Sunday the national weather service reported that in new York city, long island, southern Connecticut and the lower Hudson valley, with possible gusts up to 50 mph (80 km/h). This situation is especially dangerous for motorists, because the wind off the snow impairs visibility.

Also, officials fear that adverse weather conditions can lead to the destruction of power lines.
