Another winter storm is moving towards southern California. It will bring rain, but very low temperatures.

Katy Choksi, a meteorologist from the National weather service in Oxnard (CA) said that the rains will be rare, and the whole storm system will bring only about 3 inches of rain across the region. However, the storm could lower the snow level to the level 1066-762 m, which can create problems while driving on interstate 5 near pass Tejon.

The temperature can fall to + 4 in the basin of the river Los Angeles and even lower in the mountains the evening of February 17 when the storm subsides. This is the last of a series of storms with heavy snowfall that will continue this week.
The Yosemite Park staff reported that last week, heavy snow knocked down trees, knocked out power and damaged a tent camp in a national Park, and some roads and facilities including a ski area, February 8, remained closed.
Yosemite is assessing damage from this week’s storm. Several hundred trees are down in the Valley, with damage to dozens of buildings and vehicles. A huge thanks to all who are working to repair and recover at this time.

No one was hurt during the storm, which raged from 4 to 6 February. During bad weather Yosemite valley was covered from 45 to 60 cm of snow, and the highlands – more than 60 cm.
The Park is now open, but all amenities to the visitors at Half Dome Village on Friday was canceled, as authorities assessed the damage from the weather, and began repairs.
According to representatives of the national Park Service, 50 guest houses in the Half Dome Village were damaged or destroyed, and has suffered from 50 to 70 dwellings for employees. 150 employees had to provide housing at the time of repair.
Forecasters reported that the temperature below norm is expected within this week throughout southern California. It is projected that a new storm hits the region on Monday 11 February and will continue until Thursday the 14th of February, and then will start again later in the evening on Friday and Saturday.
Hoski noted that the region is still every few days the «storm» rains. And since each storm brings a new flow of cold air, frost in California will continue for some time.
