In Malibu, Hollywood and Pasadena, the snow fell: some of the locals saw him for the first time

Thursday, February 21, was an amazing day for certain areas of southern California. Here fell the snow, not in the mountains, which is unusual for this region. Some local residents first saw snow in real.

Xavier Bias from Pasadena came out and saw the passerby puzzled looks on the sidewalk, covered with a white carpet. Bias is originally from the East coast, so knew immediately what it was. «Some people were in shock, honestly. I said it’s okay, snow,» laughs the man.

According to forecasts, in the region winter storm system from the canadian province of Alberta. Earlier this cyclone has already brought snow to Las Vegas (NV).

In southern California, snow fell in Malibu, Pasadena, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Northridge, San Bernardino, Thousand Oaks, and other «unexpected» places where such weather not seen for decades.

On Ortega Highway between Lake Elsinore and San Juan Capistrano even went snowplows and highway 5 through the Grapevine and is temporarily blocked.

«This is probably the coldest storm system I’ve seen in southern California for all his work,» said David Sweet, a meteorologist from the National weather service in Oxnard.

In downtown Los Angeles this snowfall was last recorded in January 1962, and in LA County in 2007.

Some schools in the County San Bernardino were closed yesterday.
