Lenticular (lianovidnye) clouds — also known as Altocumulus Standing Lenticular — this is an unusual formation of clouds that are shaped like lenses and are often arise over the tops of the mountain ranges. They are formed due to the special air movement and concentration of moisture — when above the upper level of the mountain there is enough moisture, clouds form in the crest of the mountain waves where the air ascends. Given that, apart form the main feature of these clouds is their complete immobility, in spite of the strength of the wind, it is not surprising that such a natural phenomenon anyone can be confused with UFOs.

According to forecasters, these clouds most often occur in the cold season — winter or spring, when the wind at a high distance from the earth is strongest.

Mount Shasta — a potentially active statovolcano height of 4317 meters. It is part of the mountain range of the Cascade mountains, which provides excellent conditions for the formation of lenticular clouds. According to the National flattering service, Shasta-Trinity, and Cascade mountains — one of the places in the state where you can observe these clouds.

Shasta has long attracted all sorts of theorists and lovers of extraterrestrial life, which is a favorite activity — looking at the sky hoping to see another unidentified flying object. This year, in the nearby town of McCloud, located at the foot of Shasta, will host a conference «Meet the Venusians — we are in contact».
