In Texas and Oklahoma swept tornadoes: 6 dead, dozens injured

In Oklahoma and Texas there were heavy storms and tornadoes, which killed at least six people and left dozens injured.

According to authorities, three people were killed and at least 20 injured — as a result of the tornado, which struck Wednesday on Onalaska (Texas). Onalaska is about 90 miles North of Houston.

Two people were killed in the southern part of Oklahoma, also have information about the dead woman in Louisiana.

«April 22 tornado struck the city of Onalaska and other areas in the districts of Polk and San Jacinto» — said in a statement National weather service Houston (NWS).

A tornado landed near the border of Oklahoma with Texas on Wednesday evening. Polk County, where Onalaska, announced the disaster.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the state has deployed response teams and medical resources for assistance.

«The state will continue to do everything possible to support those who are affected by this severe weather,» — said the statement Abbott.

Several houses were damaged during the storms and thousands were left without electricity. More than 7,000 people in Oklahoma and nearly 9,000 people in Onalaska faced interruptions in the supply of electricity.

Recall that in early April, at least six people were killed when a strong storm system descended on Mississippi and Louisiana.
