By 2070 the heat from global warming will create the conditions for life 3 billion people

If global warming remains unchecked, that heat, which will come later in this century in some parts of the world, will create «almost the» conditions for life before 3 billion people.

This is stated in published on Monday the research of archaeologists, ecologists and climatologists.

The authors predict that by 2070 the majority of the world’s population will probably live in climate conditions that are «hotter than the conditions deemed suitable for human life.»

The scenario used in the article — is the scenario in which the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is high. The burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas, produces greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. Scientists report that emissions have led to an increase in temperature of the planet to a level that cannot be explained by natural factors.

«Brutally hot» climatic conditions currently prevail, only 0.8% of the earth’s surface, mainly in the hottest parts of the Sahara desert, but by 2070 these conditions may spread to 19% of the Land area.

This includes large parts of North Africa, the Middle East, Northern South America, South Asia and parts of Australia.

«This impact can be significantly reduced, if humanity manages to curb global warming, said study co-author Tim Lenton, a climate expert from the University of Exeter (UK). — Our calculations show that each degree of warming (Celsius) above current levels corresponds to approximately one billion people that are outside the climatic niche».
