Hurricane Paulette is back to life as a tropical zombie storm

Hurricane Paulette came back to life more than a week after it hit Bermuda.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Paulette, who reached land on September 14, «reborn» near the Azores this Monday, September 21 — this time as a tropical storm.

“Since it is 2020, there are even tropical zombie storms in the world. — commented on the news of the National Weather Service on Twitter — «Welcome back to the living world, Paulette.»

In early September, Paulette formed in the Atlantic Ocean along with 4 more tropical cyclones, marking only the second time in history when so many storms existed simultaneously. It reached land as a Category 1 hurricane, briefly amplifying to a Category 2 hurricane — however, it quickly lost its strength.

Experts explain that the abnormally active storm season this year is primarily caused by record high ocean temperatures. It is capable of acting as a high-octane fuel — thus causing hurricanes.
