Storm Elsa is approaching Florida. Where does the storm warning work?

As Storm Elsa approaches Florida Keys, a tropical storm warning has been issued for parts of central Florida. Specifically, it operates in Sumter County and parts of Marion County.

Forecasters said the center of the tropical storm was located 50 miles southwest of Key West at 5:00 am Tuesday morning. Elsa moved north and northwest at a speed of about 12 mph with a maximum wind of 60 mph.

Elsa is predicted to pass on Tuesday morning near the Florida Keys .

Then, forecasters expect the storm to sweep near or over parts of Florida's west coast on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The National Hurricane Center also reports that several tornadoes are possible in parts of Florida on Tuesday and continue through Wednesday.

According to forecasters, the Florida Keys, as well as the southwestern and western parts of the Florida Peninsula, will receive 3 to 5 inches of precipitation, the amount of which may increase up to 8 inches tomorrow.

The rest of Florida will receive no precipitation must exceed 6 inches.

  • from Egmont Key to Steinhatchee

Florida Tropical Storm Warning :

  • Florida Keys, from Craig Key in the west to Dry Tortugas
  • in the Cuban provinces of Matanzas , Mayabeke , Havana and Artemisa
  • on the west coast, north and west to the river Okhlokoni
