In Russian cities today are mass protests of supporters of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

According to preliminary data, reports the Independent, has already recorded dozens of arrests, as most of the rallies not sanctioned.

Alexey Navalny and the head of its Federal headquarters Leonid Volkov are currently under administrative detention just for calling for unsanctioned rally.
Originally the action was planned only in St. Petersburg, but after the arrest of a Bulk quantity of cities – participants of the protest increased.

So, according to the police, in Moscow the share reached about 700 people, about detainees has no data. In other regions reported 80 arrests, including 12 in Yekaterinburg, a 12 – in Tula and 10 in Samara.

Note that today the President of Russia Vladimir Putin celebrates his 65th birthday. But Putin expects several phone calls from foreign leaders (Donald trump is not one of them).

In Saint Petersburg the protest began at 18.00 local time. Independent portal Fontanka.ru passed, citing its own sources, that the police are going to drive to the rally, 20 police vehicles.

The head of election campaign of Navalny Leonid Volkov said that the protests serve two purposes: to cancel the arrest of Navalny and allow him to participate in the presidential elections of 2018.

Earlier, the head of the electoral Commission , Ella Pamfilova has already confirmed that the candidacy of Navalny will not be accepted because of the criminal case, which many believe was fabricated for political reasons.
