Tuesday, October 17, at the Parliament in Kiev gathered thousands of protesters. The meeting was not without scuffles between police and activists, the result of which was hospitalized for 4 persons. The evening under the Parliament formed a tent city.
Participants of the action «For greater political reform» demanded from the authorities the immediate lifting of parliamentary immunity, the creation of an anti-corruption court and the elimination of the majority system in electoral law. In case of failure to meet these conditions, they threatened to hold an indefinite protest.
In addition, the protesters insisted on the re-election of the Verkhovna Rada, appointed a new Cabinet, and the sale of Petro Poroshenko of its business assets.
As the organizers of the protest, made 9 political parties and 6 social organizations, including the «Automaidan», «Center of Counteraction of Corruption», «national corpus» and «new force» headed by former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili.

The President reacted to the events in Central Kiev, calling peaceful protests are an important element of democracy and stressed that he supports some people’s initiatives — in particular, the day of the protests he has made to the Verkhovna Rada a bill to abolish parliamentary immunity and encouraged its members to develop a draft law on anti-corruption court.
As for MPs, during today’s meeting they did not comply, promising to consider the law on parliamentary immunity 19.10.
In response, the protesters made it clear they will not leave the government quarter, until they get their way.
In the first half of the day, the event passed without incident, but towards evening began a scuffle between the activists and security forces. The first conflict occurred after 16:00 when you try to carry the tents on the street Grushevskogo, and the second at about 22:00. In the result of injuries received three protesters and one policeman.
In the evening, the activists smashed on the Square tent city, and representatives of the NGO «Avtomaydan» gave him a field kitchen.

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said that the demolition of tents is not planned, but the relevant departments will take care of heightened security. The official said that he was aware of the facts of the purchase of arms by some protesters, so the entrance to the zone rally will be conducted through the metal detector.
