In the speech, which lasted more than three hours, XI said that China has entered a «new era», where it should occupy a «Central position in the world». He said that «socialism with Chinese characteristics» led to the fact that China has become a «great power» and that his «prosperous» economic model gave the possibility of a «new choice» for developing countries.

The leader stressed that the country will support the policy of «one China» and will not allow Taiwan independence.

At the end of his speech, XI Jinping urged the party actively to oppose separatism and any attempt to undermine the idea of national unity.
