The former leader of Catalonia surrendered to Belgian police

Former Catalan leader Carles Pujdeme and four Ministers came to the Belgian police.

The representative of the local Prosecutor’s office — Decamp announced that on Sunday, November 5, at 09:17 am local time, all five ex-representatives of the government of Catalonia entered the Belgian police, accompanied by his lawyers.

The former head of the Generalitat of Catalonia had fled to Belgium after Madrid had taken over the direct rule over the Autonomous community of Catalonia. These events came after 1 October of the referendum for the independence of the region.

Together with Pusdienam police surrendered the former Minister of agriculture of Meritxell Serret, ex-Minister of health Anthony comyn, former head of the Ministry of culture Lucy Puig and ex-Minister of education Clara Ponsati.

According to Decena, the investigating judge «will be given 24 hours to 09:17 on Monday to make a decision – put them in jail, conditionally release or release on bail».

If the judge decides after all to arrest all former members of the government of Catalonia, Belgium will be no more than 60 days to deport the suspects to Spain.

Belgium may reject the resolution on arrest of the European Unionif the country decides that extradition may violate human rights or that the trial of a suspect would be unjust.
