Russia has accused the Hague Tribunal of being biased after life sentence «the Bosnian butcher»

The Director of the Department of information and press of the Ministry of foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova accused the Hague Tribunal in the «one-sided and anti-Serb» policies.

Yesterday, November 22, the international Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia recognized one of the military leaders of the Serbs of Ratko Mladic guilty to 10 crimes, including genocide, terrorism, mass murder, etc.

Russia has accused the Hague Tribunal of being biased after life sentence «the Bosnian butcher»

Despite Mladic’s refusal to admit his guilt and a statement that all his actions justify the desire to defend the homeland, even 10 years ago, former Serb officer Dragan zelenovic admitted to the crimes committed by the military under the command of Mladic. He confirmed the information on a regular and widespread rape and torture of Muslim women and girls during the Bosnian war.

On the side of the former General Mladic was Russia, which believes the decision of the Tribunal is unfair. The official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry said that this verdict demonstrates the politicization and bias «line, which initially dominated the work of the ICTY».

As it became known, after the collapse of Yugoslavia between the different peoples living on the territory of the former socialist Republic, the conflict began. The major military clashes occurred between Serbs on the one hand and Bosnian Muslims and Croats on the other. During the conflict in total, killed about 200 thousand people.

One of the most brutal events were the massacre in Srebrenica and the siege of Sarajevo, which lasted 3.5 years. During the massacre, which, like the siege, took place under the leadership of Mladic, killed about 8 thousand Bosnians, which is considered the bloodiest murder in Europe after the Second world war.
