The Russian Orthodox Church suggests that the death of Tsar Nicholas II could be Jewish «ritual murder». This version will be checked by the Investigative Committee of Russia is investigating the shooting of the Romanovs in Ekaterinburg. Bishop Tikhon (Shevkunov) (considered the personal Confessor of the Russian President Vladimir Putin) at the conference entitled «the murder of the Royal family: a new assessment and materials. Conspiracy theories «conspiracy seireiseki» test is not the first time. Examination, which was conducted in 1993-1997 and 2007-2008, signs of a ritual nature of the murder was found. However, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church were not admitted to these studies and found the evidence unconvincing. Therefore found it possible to raise the question of a new investigation of the theory.

In turn, other representatives of the Church are not so categorical and assertive in investigating the regicide. Patriarch Kirill, speaking at the conference, noted that authorities should not take the time to investigate. He believes that the accusations of ritual killings could «provoke uncontrolled outbreak of ultra-nationalism.» The Patriarch also stressed that «the Church has not yet formulated a position on the results of these studies, it will be formed, including, in the context of the work of the Synod and bishops ‘Councils».

Moreover, as is well known, although DNA tests and confirmed the authenticity of the remains of the Royal family, but the Church has not yet recognized their true, including Nicholas II, Alexandra Romanov, and their five children. However, this issue is extremely important, because in 2000, the Tsar and his family were enumerated by the Church to sainthood.

Nicholas II, along with six family members and entourage were shot in Yekaterinburg on 17 July 1918.

The version that the incident was a ritual murder appeared in the early XX century. Most theologians treat it with skepticism and considers that the theory was based on medieval superstition.

The President of the Federation of Jewish communities of Russia Alexander Boroda said that «Judaism being the first religion to abolish human sacrifice at the dawn of its inception, in principle, does not know the concept of «ritual murder.»
