Prince Charles after Elizabeth II heads the Commonwealth of Nations

Prince of Wales Charles will be the next head of the Commonwealth of Nations (SN) after his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

The leaders of the countries — participants of CIS has taken this decision at a meeting behind closed doors at Windsor castle. Queen Elizabeth said it was her «earnest desire that Prince Charles has continued this important work.»

Earlier, the candidature of the Prince of Wales backed the Prime Minister Theresa may and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.

Commonwealth of Nations voluntary Association of 53 countries, which includes United Kingdom, its former dominions and colonies, including Australia and Canada.

The Commonwealth of Nations was created primarily with the aim of international cooperation in different areas. The post of head of SN is not hereditary, and the head does not perform any official functions, but tries to regularly visit member States of the Commonwealth to personally liaise between its members.
