345 thousand people in the Donbass were left without water, but the UN can’t help

18 APR Donetsk filtering station stopped its work. This decision was forced and is not connected with any failure: on the eve near the station there was a fire, injuring 5 officers, one of them is in serious condition.

According to the Office for the coordination of humanitarian Affairs at the United Nations, water supply will be suspended in the town, partly Donetsk, Yasinovataya, Krasnyi Partyzan, Cool Beam and Verhnetoretskom until then, until they received guarantees of security personnel filter plant from the parties to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. Just at the moment 345 thousand people are without water.

«I am deeply concerned that employees of a water treatment plant and critical infrastructure remain vulnerable to attack in armed conflict», — said the coordinator of the humanitarian programs of the UN in Ukraine Neil Walker after four previous attacks. Walker stressed that this is a direct violation of international humanitarian law.

According to the United Nations, 3.4 million women, men and children in Ukraine are in dire need of humanitarian assistance and protection, but to implement this plan is $187 million, of which an international organization may allocate only 3%.

In just 4 years of fighting on the territory of Donbas killed more than 2500 civilians, and 9 thousand were injured.
