Russia should pay Ukraine compensation of $159 million for the annexation of Crimea

The Hague court decided the case on violation of the rights of Ukrainians as a result of the annexation of Crimea by Russia: may 2 arbitration ordered Moscow to pay Ukrainian companies $159 million.

For the first time in the history of the court in the Hague ruled on compensation for Russian losses in connection with the seizure of the territory of Ukraine. Therefore, compensation needs to 18 Ukrainian companies and 1 natural person.

Moscow did not hesitate to answer. Putin’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is not a party to the process, therefore, pay any amount not going.

Deputy foreign Minister of Ukraine on European integration Olena zerkal said this is only the first victory of Ukraine. For example, the Hague arbitration has not yet ruled on the suit of Ukraine about Moscow’s involvement in financing terrorism in the Donbas.
