Fan of LC and Russian fighter Jeff Monson received Russian citizenship

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin by his decree gave the Minnesota-born mixed martial arts fighter and Brazilian JIU-jitsu Jeff Monson Russian citizenship.

Two-time winner of the world Cup grappling version of the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) world champion in Brazilian JIU-jitsu for many years expressed their sympathy to the Russian Federation.

Even 5 years ago, Monson said that he would like to become a Russian citizen. Before each battle, he surprised the audience, coming to the ring accompanied by the song «Arise, Donbass», «combat» (which takes the «lube» — group of Putin’s favorite), and even under the anthem of the Soviet Union.

In addition, Monson has repeatedly said that he feels Russian soul, it is not surprising that his body tattooed the words — «freedom» and «solidarity». On the left leg the fighter has a tattoo depicting a hammer and sickle and the Motherland, and on his chest — the red and black starwhich is a symbol of anarchism.

The scandal around Monson, broke out with even greater force when in 2016 he became a citizen of the LC. Fighter openly declared its support for the authorities of the breakaway republics in the Donbass, and even went to the ATO area.

The American also criticized another newly made «citizen» of the French actor Gerard Depardieu, who, in his opinion, does not like Russia.

Back in February, Monson stated that he had filed a petition for a grant of citizenship not as a superstar, but as a regular applicant. The fighter noted, that passed all the stages for obtaining a passport.

In 2016 Putin personally handed the passport of the Russian Federation, U.S. actor Steven Seagal, who has relatives in Saint-Petersburg, Siberia and Belarus.
